Description
István Pekáry graduated as a student of Gyula Rudnay, simply transferred the Hungarian themes from his master to his art. During his varied career, he painted panels and frescoes, but also wove tapestries and created set and costume designs. He used folk art prototypes for his creations, with which he managed to create a unique style. His fairy-tale, narrative pictures are easily recognizable from the rigid, schematic figures characteristic of naive art. At the same time, his compositions show professionalism, the decorative elements harmoniously fill the picture.
