Description

Róbert Csíkszentmihályi, who was awarded the Artist of the Nation and with the Kossuth-Prize, already believed in himself at the age of twelve that he would become an artist. He learned the practices of sculpture from Pál Pátzay and István Szabó, as a beginner he was influenced by the figurative sculptures of Miklós Borsos and Ferenc Medgyessy. At the same time, his study trips to Rome, India, Greece, and Sweden also enriched his outlook. At first, he worked with wood and limestone, then as an "advanced" he turned to noble materials: bronze, marble. His art includes public works, small sculptures, and medals too.

We know Csíkszentmihályi as a figurative artist striving to express emotions, but abstraction was not far from him either. The bronze with the title "Time" is abstract, philosophical and everyday realistic at the same time. We see a pendulum clock that splits in two in the middle. In contrast to the falling of the pendulum and the dynamics of the crack, the mechanical timing mechanism no longer runs, it has stopped for good. With the destruction of the clock, time also symbolically stopped. This object, which once had a more beautiful fate - although it is used to measure and indicate time - now symbolizes timelessness and the "final calm" or the "end of time". Csíkszentmihályi's sculpture made of bronze.
